My teaching Philosophy
We are all human beings and we make mistakes, we are learning so that making mistakes is normal something. I often told this to my students, I liked that they felt comfortable, I always tried that they build their knowledge and participated of their learning process and I also try they felt as active agents in this process. Taking into account the mentioned, I like the Constructivism because my students can be responsible for their own learning and active processor of information, builds knowledge for themselves, they must also be people able relate new information with prior knowledge, establishing relationships between knowledge that they possess, and this way it truly give meaning to the information received. I always tried to work in this.
My beliefs about my teaching
In the case of teaching English, I think we should try to get our students to learn through daily practice, if they practice English daily they will improve it, practice makes perfection, therefore, we should focus on that they practice and set in motion their language skills.
I believe that as teachers we must open spaces not only for autonomous learning but also for collaborative learning since we can encourage and build the critical thinking of the students in this way.
For my teaching, I always try to use videos, images and/or other interactive resources because I think that will help them in their motivation and help me to keep them attentive to the class, I think the class should be a space where students can interact and build their knowledge and I believe that the class should be given in such a way that students can feel comfortable.
What I learned about teaching speaking skills
I learned that we should not be afraid to speak in English language, we may be making mistakes but there are people around our who can correct us and help us improve.
I learned that we must create activities that encourage dialogue so that students can put this skill into practice. For example, make they share their experiences, talk about their plans, their family, among other things. We must encourage them to participate.
What I learned about teaching in online environments
I learned that we must know how to manage technological resources so we didn’t have problems when teaching, that there must be a preparation to avoid making mistakes and prevent the class from being affected. I learned that not all students are good managing technology so we must prepare them before class so that they do not feel frustrated when developing activities.
I learned that using technology, it can sometimes be frustrating due to connectivity but at the same time using it brings benefits and contributes a lot to teach, for instance, can help improve students' skills.
I learned through tools 2.0 teaching English as a second language it has become easier and dynamics, besides these allow students to acquire and learn English in a more authentic way.
My principles about teaching speaking online
Plan the class. If we plan the class with time, it is probably that the class is successful. Therefore, take your time to design it.
For me, it is essential to make use of authentic materials because they provide exposure to the real language and promote the development speaking and listening skill.
I consider that the proposed activities must promote the motivation and participation of students.
Give feedback so students can realize they are making mistakes and look for strategies to improve.
